This Master Class is a 4-lesson series. Each lesson will focus on a different topic covering decision-making, court positioning, partner communication, and point construction.
What you'll learn
Lesson 1: Court Positioning & Team Movement
Goal: Understand where to be—and when—for smarter doubles play.
Key concepts:
- Full court awareness
- Moving as a unit and partner communication
- How to cover the middle
Structure:
- 15 min: Live demo—poor vs. ideal paddle and body positioning
- 35 min: Movement drills and how to cover court
- 35 min: Scenario-based point play with in-game coaching
- 5 min: Debrief + Q&A
Lesson 2: Shot Selection and high Percentage Pickleball
Goal: Learn the right shots to hit based on court position, opponent pressure, and setup.
Key Concepts:
- What are high percentage shots and when to use them
- Recognizing low-risk vs high-risk moments
- Shot selection based on court position
Structure:
- 15 min: Live demo—right vs wrong decisions
- 35 min: Drills focused on decision-making
- 35 min: Live play with in-game coaching
- 5 min: Debrief + Q&A
Lesson 3: Constructing Points with Purpose
Objective: Understand how to build points deliberately from serve to finish.
Key Concepts:
- Reading your opponents’ weaknesses
- How to create and exploit openings
- Setting up a win 2–3 shots ahead
Structure:
- 15 min: Live demo—serve + return patterns, dinking with intent
- 35 min: Partner drills: plan and execute specific 3-ball combos
- 35 min: Scenario-based point play with in-game coaching
- 5 min: Debrief + Q&A
Lesson 4: Adapting to Various Player Styles
Objective: Learn how to recognize opponent patterns and adjust your strategy in real time.
Key Concepts:
- Spotting different player styles(e.g., drive-heavy, dink-averse, lobbers)
- Adjusting based on opponent strengths/weaknesses
- Mid-game strategy shifts (changing serve targets, switching roles, pace control)
Structure:
- 15 min: Live demo—how to read and react (assistant plays "predictable" vs "adaptive" styles)
- 35 min: Scenario-based drills where players must play against a set pattern and figure out how to counter it
- 35 min: Mini matches with layered challenges (e.g., after 4 points, switch tactics or serve placements)
- 5 min: Debrief + Q&A
